Durrett and Schmidt studies

In 2007  Durrett and Schmidt estimated that for a single mutation to occur in a nucleotide binding site and be fixed in a primate lineage it would take 6 million years alas 6 million years is the timescale alloted by the standard evolutionary model for the transition from our last supposed common ancester with chimps to present day man.
